#Throwback: 27th November, 2008!

Image
27th November, 2008. The day we, Malaysians, had our first taste of the pop culture phenomenon we call Twilight. It was 8 years ago when the craze swept the nation, and thus we became emotionally invested in Edward Cullen, Bella Swan, Jacob Black, the Cullen clan, the Quileute shapeshifters, the Swan family, and the entire universe of sparkling vampires. This unorthodox vampire movie, based on the novel written by Stephenie Meyer (#Queen), introduced us then-quite-unknown actors like Robert Pattinson (who has quite a career after this one, besides being in Harry Potter before Twilight, and also a Teen Choice Award winner), Kristen Stewart (An outstanding film career, and a Cesar Award winner) and Taylor Lautner (he's on TV, and also an MTV Movie Award winner). We also got to say hi to many more actors along the way throughout the entire 4-movie saga, some iconic ones, like Anna Kendrick, Bryce Dallas Howard, Dakota Fanning (but we all already know her), Charlie Bewley, Nik...

Lionsgate Co-Chairman Talks Franchises (Including Twilight!)

Patrick Wachsberger, former Summit co-chairman and current Lionsgate co-chairman, had an interview with ScreenDaily. In the interview, he talked about franchises and highlights from the companies he worked with. Naturally, Twilight got a mention. Few franchises have proven more transformative in the independent business than Twilight, which has grossed more than $3bn worldwide at the box office alone. “Twilight was a game changer for everyone involved,” he admits. Of course, this would be the best part (for us, anyway). Could we see another episode in the Robert Pattinson-Kristen Stewart behemoth? “It’s a possibility,” he says. “Not a certainty but it’s a possibility. It’s about Stephenie [novelist Stephenie Meyer]. If she wants to tell a story related to those characters we’re here for her.” IF. Time will tell. Read the full interview here . It's quite interesting. via ScreenDaily , ScreenRant

Kristen Stewart in T Magazine

Kristen Stewart is featured on the cover of The New York Times' T Magazine , and talks about a lot of things that has happened in her life, and more. Now 26, Stewart is sitting on her couch, dressed for the skate park in tight blue jeans, a loose white T-shirt and a black cap, worn backward. Cole (along with Bernie and Bear) sleeps at her feet. She lights a cigarette, her hands uncharacteristically steady. Everything about her, in fact — the easy eye contact, casual laughter and willingness to discuss the past — is a striking departure from the often frankly miserable face presented to the world just a few years ago. She talks about her work. During production, Stewart worked 18-hour days, six days a week, and when she wasn’t filming she was promoting her partnership with Chanel. “As a younger person, I would have lost steam: ‘I’m tired. I don’t feel good. I’m sick.’ Instead I tried to make myself more sick, more tired, just to see if there ever was a breaking poin...

Catherine Hardwicke Share Twilight's Secrets

I missed this post from Buzzfeed from November 2015, so sorry about that. Catherine Hardwicke, director of Twilight , share some secrets about the film in an interview with BuzzFeed News. Among them include: - No one wanted to adapt Twilight, the first in the series of Stephenie Meyers’ vampire novels. - Having cast Stewart and Robert Pattinson, Hardwicke watched the “frenzy” that developed around them feeling somewhat “guilty.” See the full list here . She also discusses on lessons she learnt from filming the movie, as well as on her experience of gender bias in Hollywood and the film industry. Read the full interview here . via BuzzFeed News
