Eclipse on NextMovie's The 25 Best Movies of 2010

Eclipse took the #25 spot on NextMovie's The 25 Best Movies of 2010 list.

That vampire-werewolf-human love triangle reached hot new heights with its third – and strongest – installment this summer. With the highly anticipated tent scene, the battle against Victoria and the newborns and (swoon) that marriage proposal, the flick was so action-packed, smooch-packed and six-packed, fans’ cries of pure joy are still ringing in our ears. Or maybe those sounds are caused by the fact that we have to wait until next November to see “Breaking Dawn – Part 1.” Sigh.

The Star Online Includes Vampires In its 'Entertainment: 2001 - 2010' Recap

The Star Online compiled standout news for their "Entertainment: 2001-2010" list, and included vampires too.

Vamping it up

We’ve been freaked out and fascinated by vampires since times of yore, but the last 10 years witnessed a revival of the vampire myth in several different ways. The most obvious, of course, is the Twilight phenomenon, where, thanks to Stephenie Meyer’s wildly successful teen novels (which debuted in 2005), the menacing vampire is recast as a brooding vegetarian who only wants to find his soulmate. The movie franchise that followed made instant teen idols of now-famous names like Robert Pattinson, Kristen Stewart (above) and Taylor Lautner. The Underworld series of movies, on the other hand, created epic battles between vampires and werewolves, who were both products of a virus that afflicts mankind. Television too, is not exempt from the current vampire trend: The Vampire Diaries (premiered in 2009) chronicles a love triangle between a teenage girl and …

'Eclipse' hits Moviefone's 50 Best Movies 0f 2010

Moviefonereleased its 50 Best Movies of 2010 list, and Eclipse hits the list ... at No. 49.

We know what you're thinking: 'Twilight'? Really?! But before you judge, hear us out: While it didn't exactly reinvent 'Citizen Kane,' at the end of the day, 'Eclipse' was a pretty fun time at the movies. Sure, it had its fair share of 'Twilight' trappings, and we still think Bella would have been better off with Jacob, not Edward. But as an action-thriller, 'Eclipse' totally worked. (The scene in which Bryce Dallas Howard gets her head smashed? Awesome.) If ever there was a time to embrace 'The Twilight Saga,' it would be 2010. -- Andy Scott

Eclipse DVD Released, Sold 3 Million Copies

The Eclipse DVD was released on 4th December 2010 in the States. So far, it has sold over 3 million copies!

According to Home Media Magazine, there have already been three million copies of The Twilight Saga: Eclipse on Blu-Ray/DVD sold since the December 4th release. According to a spokesperson from the studio, "With the first two titles, we had massive March opening events involving thousands of retail stores . . . We were going for a big bang, right out of the gate. This time we are releasing the film during the holiday season, a much more crowded time and one with vastly different consumer shopping patterns. So our whole plan is to look at what we're doing over a four-week period of time, and not a single night." Given the nearness to the holiday giving season, there is no doubt more to come from Eclipse sales. The magazine also reports that totals for Twilight sales are up to 10.5 million units, and those for New Moon have reached 9.5 million units so far.

He also dishes about his arm wrestling scene with Kristen Stewart, the most challenging thing about "Twilight" and what other roles he has coming up."
