Vanessa Hudgens auditions for Leah Clearwater?

Hey guys. I haven't posted anything on this yet cos it's not confirmed. However, it has been confirmed by Access Hollywood that Vanessa Hudgens actually did audition for the role of Leah!
OK. It first started with MTV reporting that VH did audition, when they asked Ashley Greene. Then, Just Jared asks Vanessa's rep, and it was a 'No, she didn't'. Twilight Lexicon asks screenwriter Melissa Rosenberg, and she said 'if Vanessa is auditioning for the role of Leah, she’s written her own pages to read, ’cause I didn’t write ‘em.'. Now, AH is saying 'Yes, she did.'
Confused? Almost every Twi-hard is. Of course, nothing about this is confirmed until principal photography starts in March 2009.
Perhaps it's just publicity to keep non-Twilighters interested in new moon...and maybe, also, Vanessa Hudgens O_o

10 years after twilight , director Catherine Hardwicke opens up to The Daily Beast on new details on the film, some we've never known before. Ten years ago, the Twilight film franchise was an unknown quantity. In fact, Catherine Hardwicke, the director of the first Twilight, was surrounded by film executives who all but expected the vampire flick to fail. “Nobody thought this is a big, blockbuster franchise,” Hardwicke tells the Daily Beast. “There were very low expectations for Twilight, because every other studio had turned it down.
